This policy explains what Repair or Call collects when you read this site, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only, not any third-party site you reach through a link.

What we collect

  • Analytics data. Pages viewed, approximate location at city level, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as clicking a quote request or an affiliate link. Collected through Google Analytics 4. We do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.
  • Advertising data. Our advertising partners set cookies and similar identifiers to select and measure the ads you see. This may include an advertising ID and an inferred interest profile held by that partner.
  • Information you submit. If you request contractor quotes, the ZIP code you type is passed to our contractor network partner to route your request. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we hold the email address you give us.
  • Server logs. Our host records IP address, timestamp, and requested URL for security and abuse prevention, retained for a short period.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and this site is not directed at children.

Why we use it

To understand which guides help people and which do not, to keep the site secure, to serve and measure advertising that funds the work, and to pass on quote requests you have explicitly asked us to pass on. Nothing else.

Who it goes to

  • Google — analytics and advertising.
  • Contractor lead networks — only the ZIP code and request details you voluntarily submit, and only at the moment you submit them.
  • Our hosting and CDN provider — as a processor, to deliver the site.
  • Law enforcement — only where legally compelled.

We do not sell your name, email address, or contact details to data brokers.

Cookies and how to refuse them

This site sets no cookies of its own. Cookies you receive here come from Google Analytics and our advertising partners. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, opt out of personalised Google advertising at adssettings.google.com, or opt out industry-wide at optout.aboutads.info. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal where your browser sends one.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the following rights:

  • Right to know. The categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
  • Right to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of advertising and analytics cookies on this site may constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA. You can opt out by using the browser and industry controls listed above, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour automatically.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the CPRA.
  • Right to non-discrimination. Exercising any of these rights will not change the content or functionality you receive here.

In the preceding twelve months we have collected the following CCPA categories: identifiers (IP address, cookie and device identifiers), internet activity (browsing and interaction data), approximate geolocation at city level, and — where you have volunteered it — commercial information in the form of a ZIP code and quote request.

To exercise a right, email hello@repairorcall.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will verify your request by reply and respond within 45 days. An authorised agent may submit on your behalf with written proof of authorisation.

Other US state privacy laws

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other states with comprehensive privacy statutes have comparable rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of targeted advertising. Use the same address above; we apply the same process regardless of which state you write from. Where your state provides an appeal right following a refused request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.

Data retention and security

Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Server logs are retained for 30 days. Newsletter addresses are held until you unsubscribe. The site is served over HTTPS with HSTS enabled and holds no reader database of its own.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
